Congratulations to FCCJ's Dental Hygiene Class of 2008. Good luck in your future careers.__________________________________________________ To see an update of FDHA efforts in getting SB2760 passed see this link. To read the bill visit the senate site .__________________________________________________ On December 6, 2007 the Board of Dentistry held a Rules Workshop and the proposed rules focusing on changes to Delegable Duties for Dental Hygienists and Assistants were addressed. There were two issues that the Florida Dental Hygiene Association were specifically opposing: 1.) Using appropriate implements for preliminary charting of existing restorations and missing teeth and a visual assessment of existing oral conditions, to include, but not limited to periodontal probing. 2.) Removing calculus deposits, accretions and stains from exposed surfaces of the teeth above the gingival margin. The Florida Dental Hygiene Association was successful in defeating these proposed rules! They were both rejected. Thank you to everyone who supported this effort for the preservation of our profession. __________________________________________________
LICENSE RENEWAL TIME Dental hygienists will pilot a new license renewal program and will be mailed a postcard reminder. Dental hygienists will be directed to log into the following website: www.FLHealthSource.com to renew their license. The Board of Dentistry reduced the dental hygienist license renewal fee this biennium to $105. While it is possible to print a renewal form from the website and renew by mail, all licensees are encouraged to renew their license online. Renewing online is less costly and the renewal will be processed faster. You can also print out a receipt after you renew online and this can serve as your temporary license and proof that you have renewed. These yellow postcards should be mailed the first week of November. __________________________________________________ We are rapidly approaching the beginning of another legislative year. The Florida Dental Hygiene Association wants to know what your priorities for the profession are. Please take a few minutes to fill out the survey. You can print the survey out and mail to Betty Dalton, RDH, BS, Legislative Chair, 614 Golf Course Drive, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32547 or fax to 860-896-0604. Or, you can enter your responses to the document on line and email your response to Tami Miller ( tami@fdha.org ) __________________________________________________ NEFDHA's Summer 2007 Newsletter is online.
